New York 1 News Channel visits Staten Island Schools with TASP

Singers Nicolas King, Shana Farr, and singer/songwriter Rick Jensen visited the William Morris Intermediate School and the Curtis High School on Staten Island to speak to kids about the great American Songbook. The song selections included jazz standards, Broadway standards, and contemporary American songs. The students enjoyed the programs, asked many questions, and sang along with "Over the Rainbow" at the end of the program. These two visits were sponsored by the Mizzy Jonas Family Foundation which supports the education of music.

Singers Shana Farr, Nicolas King, and Alisa Endsley visited the Richard Rodgers School on March 26th to help them celebrate their annual "Richard Rodgers Day". A special guest, Mary Rodgers, was in the audience and happily answered several questions the children had for her at the end of the program. The day's songs were specifically chosen to reflect the work of Richard Rodgers with songs from The King and I, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, and more. The most impressive and inspirational part of the day is when the kids joined in and sang along with "Do Re Mi" and "The Sound of Music"

November 4th, 2011The American Songbook Project held their annual "Name That Tune" Benefit at the historical Hudson Theatre. Jerry Herman was honored for his outstanding contribution to the American Songbook and Guild Hall in East Hampton was honored for their excellence in outreach and support of the great American songs. It was an evening of great costumes and prizes, celebrity entertainment, silent/live auctions, and great American songs.

The American Songbook Project hosted a benefit on Tuesday, July 26th at Sardi's. Author and advertising exec, Tyler DeAngelo, read excerpts from each chapter of his hilarious book “Learn Just Enough to Get Laid." It was followed by several of New York’s finest male artists who performed songs related to each chapter’s topic: cooking, wine, speaking French, astronomy, construction, magic, guitar, and religion. Also featured was guitarist extraordinaire, Sean Harkness.
